With each release of a new Pokemon game, I’m always afraid this will be the generation that doesn’t deliver (excluding Black and White, which I didn’t like, but they made up for it with Black and White 2). With Pokemon X & Y, Nintendo has done it again.
I’m all about the introduction of new types, but I was SUPER skeptical about Fairy. I mean, it definitely made sense, especially when you think of Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and Togepi being in the same type as Sentret, Rattata, and Zigzagoon. I totally supported them being divided, but I figured it would be an incredibly weak type that no one would end up caring about. Boy was I wrong. I would wager to say that Fairy is probably the best type out there – but maybe I’m biased because my Azumarill is such a badass and Sylveon was the hardest Pokemon to defeat of any gym in Pokemon X. And they certainly put my favorite Pokemon, Umbreon, to shame.
Another thing I appreciated was the generous incorporation of Pokemon from Generation 1. You can even choose one of the original starters to join you on your journey – HOW COOL IS THAT? And omg you can catch Eevee in the wild – in the wild people. This game is just too much. And I’m not even done with it.
I guess I should also clarify that I’m basing all of this on Pokemon X which I chose with the intention of getting the Mega Evolution of Charizard that changes typing from Fire/Flying to Fire/Dragon. YAAAAAS MEGA CHARIZARD X YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL.
If you’re playing Pokemon X or Y right now, let me know you’re line up! I know a ton of people have been asking me, so here’s mine:
I’ve been pretty fortunate to wipe the floor with people so far – but fuck if I’m gonna challenge any of you guys and get my ass handed to me and ruin my self esteem haha. Let me know what your thoughts of Pokemon X & Y are in the comment section below!
